New front doors, internal doors, French doors and sliding barn doors, hung square and fitted so they open and close the way they should.

The work

What I do

A good door is all in the fitting. Frames that are plumb, even gaps all the way round and hinges that carry the weight. A door that sticks, drops or won’t latch usually comes down to how it was hung.

I hang new entry and internal doors, replace frames, and fit barn door systems with the track fixed into solid timber backing so it runs smoothly for years.

  • Entry doors. New timber front doors and side lights, hung, sealed and finished.
  • Internal doors. Doors and frames replaced and trimmed with new architraves.
  • French double doors. Pairs aligned so they meet evenly, with flush bolts at top and bottom.
  • Barn door systems. Sliding tracks fixed into solid backing, with soft-close and a privacy latch where you need one.
  • New door frames. Old or damaged frames replaced, plumbed and trimmed.
  • Door adjustments. Sticking, dropping or rattling doors trued up so they open and close smoothly.

Questions

Common questions

Can a barn door go on any wall?

It needs solid fixing above the opening. In a stud wall I add timber backing behind the plaster so the track carries the weight properly.

My French doors don’t meet in the middle. Can that be fixed?

Most of the time. It’s usually hinges, a dropped door or swollen timber. I adjust or plane them so both leaves close evenly.

Can you replace a door without replacing the frame?

Often, yes. If the frame is sound and square, a new door can be fitted to it. If it’s rotten or out of square, I’ll replace it so the new door hangs properly.

Do I buy the door or do you?

Either works. If you’ve picked one already, I’ll fit it. If not, I can suggest doors that suit the opening and your style.
